After the "Research and Industrialization of the Original New Drug Aiprazole" project of Livzon Pharmaceutical Group won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in January this year, good news came again from the Guangdong Province Innovation-Driven Development Conference on February 15, 2016: The project "Research and Industrialization of Major Common and Key Technologies in the Upgrading of Traditional Chinese Medicine Injection Products" by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. won the first prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Award; two projects from Livzon Group's Livzon Pharmaceutical Factory, "Research and Industrialization of Original Class Biological Products Neurotrophic Factor" won the second prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Award.

This newspaper reports (Reporter Zhang Wendan) Yesterday, at the Guangdong Province Innovation-Driven Development Conference held in Guangzhou, the results of the 2015 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award were announced. The reporter learned last night from the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Science and Industry that our city has three projects that won the first prize, ranking third in the province, only behind Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
It is reported that a total of 9 projects in Zhuhai won awards this time, including 3 first prizes, 2 second prizes, and 4 third prizes. The projects that won the first prize are: "Two-Stage High-Efficiency Permanent Magnet Synchronous Variable Frequency Centrifugal Chiller" by Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliances Co., Ltd., "Research and Industrialization of Major Common and Key Technologies in the Upgrading of Traditional Chinese Medicine Injection Products" by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., and "Research on Genetic Breeding of Litopenaeus vannamei and Promotion of New Varieties" completed by Changfeng Aquatic Seed Technology Co., Ltd. in Doumen District.
It is understood that the award-winning project of Livzon Group is led by Dr. Cao Hui, the R&D director in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and director of the National Engineering Research Center for Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The project team, in collaboration with Professor Su Weiwei's team from Sun Yat-sen University, has spent more than 7 years focusing on key aspects such as product safety and effectiveness, and quality control, jointly tackling major common issues in traditional Chinese medicine injections, breaking through long-standing common key technologies that have plagued the production and quality control of traditional Chinese medicine injections and post-marketing re-evaluation. The project has obtained 9 authorized invention patents, published 8 papers, published 2 monographs, formulated 2 national drug standards, developed 1 new product, and obtained 1 national protection variety certificate for traditional Chinese medicine. In the past 5 years, it has sold more than 40 million bottles, with terminal sales exceeding 8 billion yuan. Among them, the "Ginseng and Astragalus Injection" as a major brand and variety of auxiliary anti-tumor drugs has been promoted to major cities across the country, with over 30 million users, showing broad application prospects in tumor and Qi deficiency syndromes.

The "Key Technology Research for Quarantine Identification and Risk Warning of Important Foreign Harmful Organisms in Guangdong Province" by Zhuhai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the "Rapid Suppression Technology and Engineering Practice of Unstable Vibration of Large Steam Turbine Generating Units" completed by Zhuhai Jinwan Power Co., Ltd., the "Environmentally Friendly Digital Printing Color Sublimation Ink" by Zhuhai Bonded Zone Natural Baojie Digital Technology Materials Co., Ltd., and the "Application Technology Research of Dynamic Testing in the Safety Technical Status Assessment of Operating Highway Bridge Piles" completed by Zhuhai Construction Engineering Quality Supervision and Testing Station won the third prize of the Provincial Science and Technology Award.
A relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau of Science and Industry stated that the number of first prizes won by Zhuhai in the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award ranks third in the province, only behind Guangzhou and Shenzhen, indicating that Zhuhai has achieved good results in strengthening the main position of enterprise technological innovation and implementing the innovation-driven strategy.
In the past year, our city has formulated the "Zhuhai City Innovation-Driven Development Three-Year Action Plan (2015-2017)", proposing 8 "doubling" target plans for R&D investment, technology enterprise incubation, and the construction of new R&D institutions, while integrating and issuing the "Several Policy Measures to Accelerate the Advancement of Technological Innovation in Zhuhai City", forming 18 core innovation-driven policies that lead the comprehensive deepening of the technological system reform in our city, and the innovative ecology of blue Zhuhai is flourishing.
It is reported that currently, our city's main innovation capability indicators rank among the top three in the province. The proportion of R&D funds in GDP has increased to over 2.6%; in 2015, the number of invention patent applications per million people reached 2711, and the number of invention patents owned per ten thousand people was 22.5, with these three core indicators ranking second in the province; the coverage rate of R&D institutions in industrial enterprises above designated size reached 20%, ranking first in the province. There are 397 high-tech enterprises, accounting for 40% of the total number of industrial enterprises above designated size, ranking third in the province.
