On the evening of June 21, 2017, Eastern Time, at the "2017 Global Volunteer Leaders Summit" held by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Washington, D.C., Director Zhu Baoguo was awarded TNC's highest honor - the "Oak Leaf Award". Mr. Mark Tercek, the global president of TNC, personally presented the medal to him. Mr. Mark Tercek, TNC's global president, personally presented the medal to him. This award once again affirms Director Zhu Baoguo's significant contributions to nature conservation and the outstanding leadership he has demonstrated throughout this process.
The award committee highly praised Director Zhu Baoguo's commitment to nature conservation: "Mr. Zhu Baoguo joined TNC's China Council in 2010. In addition to providing strong financial support for TNC's conservation projects, he has also devoted a significant amount of personal time and energy to the management of the council. He has provided innovative and pioneering leadership for TNC's development in China and has personally guided the specific work of the TNC team. All of this highlights his passion for ecological environmental protection and sense of social responsibility."
As the first award recipient among the three winners, Director Zhu Baoguo stated: "I am very fortunate to be a witness and participant in TNC's ecological conservation work in China. In China, TNC's footprint provides scientific methods for ecological protection; through continuous attempts and efforts, the TNC team has also achieved innovation in conservation mechanisms and practices. At the same time, TNC has directly or indirectly helped and influenced the nurturing and growth of local nature conservation NGOs in China, such as the establishment of the Taohuayuan Foundation." His speech received warm applause from the audience. After Director Zhu Baoguo stepped down from the podium, many global directors and TNC management team members actively shook hands and congratulated him.
Other directors of the TNC Greater China Council also sent their congratulations in the form of messages, celebrating the honor received by Director Zhu Baoguo. Director Niu Gensheng, founder of Mengniu Foundation, stated, "Mr. Zhu Baoguo's expansion from loving his wife's career to loving nature shows that great love knows no bounds; loving 'humans' + loving 'non-humans' is the advanced stage of love." Director Ma Huateng, executive chairman of Tencent, praised, "Director Zhu Baoguo has a high passion for environmental public welfare and is a model of social responsibility among Chinese entrepreneurs." Director Jack Ma, chairman of Alibaba Group, also expressed his admiration: "Mr. Zhu Baoguo is not only a leader in China's health and pharmaceutical fields but also a pioneer advocating for sustainable cities and lifestyles. He is committed to innovative methods and environmental protection because he knows that our health and happiness begin and end with our environment. Mr. Zhu Baoguo has made tremendous contributions to China's environment and is a role model for all of us."
Mr. Mark Tercek, TNC's global president, also highly praised and supported Director Zhu Baoguo's efforts in nature conservation, commending his actions for inspiring more Chinese entrepreneurs to practice corporate social responsibility, making the Earth a better home for humanity. This award is not only recognition of Director Zhu Baoguo's personal contributions to China's ecological protection but also the collective wisdom and efforts of all directors and members of the TNC Greater China Council. It represents the efforts of Chinese philanthropists to leverage international platforms and best practices to promote the development of public welfare in China.
