Recently, the international authoritative index company MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) announced the latest annual ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) rating results. With excellent management and performance in ESG for the year 2021, in July 2022, the MSCI ESG rating of Livzon Pharmaceutical Group rose two levels from BBB to AA. Among them, the topics of "product safety and quality" and "pollutant and waste emissions" are at the leading position in the global industry.
The AA rating is currently the highest level in the domestic pharmaceutical industry, placing it among the global industry leaders. This rating upgrade is a high recognition of Livzon Pharmaceutical Group's ESG management achievements and reflects the capital market's full affirmation of Livzon Pharmaceutical Group's sustainable development management performance.
The board of directors of Livzon Pharmaceutical Group attaches great importance to and continuously improves the ESG governance structure and management mechanism. On June 30, 2020, the ESG Committee was established under the board of directors, chaired by the company's chairman, with an ESG working group as its executive body. The ESG Committee is responsible for formulating the company's ESG goals and strategies, monitoring the ESG management structure and operational management, assessing risks and opportunities related to ESG, and continuously consolidating the group's ESG work through the supervision and management of ESG goals.
In 2021, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group launched a multi-level improvement initiative across the entire group, covering various aspects of corporate operational management, including environmental protection, product quality and safety, business ethics, whistleblower protection, supplier quality management, sustainable supply chains, responsible marketing, and inclusive health, thereby comprehensively optimizing the group's governance and sustainable operational capabilities.
In 2021, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group set new carbon reduction targets for 2021-2025 and a carbon neutrality target for 2055, managing climate change risks in reference to TCFD recommendations, guiding the company in fine management of pollutant emissions and resource utilization, achieving a 6.7% year-on-year reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. All production enterprises of the group have obtained ISO 14001 environmental management system certification. The group has also established a system linking ESG performance with management compensation, ensuring the achievement of environmental management goals through effective incentive mechanisms and promoting green and low-carbon operations.
At the same time, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group strives to create a diverse, inclusive, and unbiased friendly working atmosphere, adhering to the core conventions of the International Labour Organization, and has established labor employment and code of conduct guidelines. In 2021, the proportion of female employees in the group was about 48%, with women accounting for 35% of managerial positions and above, and a goal was set for the future to maintain a female employee ratio of no less than 40% and to include at least one female member on the board of directors.
