LIZHU Biotech's recombinant COVID-19 fusion protein (CHO cell) vaccine has been selected for the "Implementation Plan for the Second Dose Booster Immunization of COVID-19 Vaccine".

2022-12-16

On December 13, the Comprehensive Group of the State Council's Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for the COVID-19 pandemic issued the "Implementation Plan for the Second Dose Booster Immunization of COVID-19 Vaccines" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan"), and the Lizhu Biotech Recombinant COVID-19 Fusion Protein (CHO Cell) Vaccine was selected as a preferred combination.

The "Plan" states that all vaccines approved for conditional marketing or emergency use can be used for the second dose booster immunization, with a priority on sequential booster immunization, or using vaccines containing the Omicron strain or those with good cross-immunity against the Omicron strain for the second dose booster immunization. The preferred combination includes 3 doses of inactivated vaccine + 1 dose of Lizhu Biotech Recombinant COVID-19 Fusion Protein (CHO Cell) Vaccine. It emphasizes that based on the first dose booster immunization, the second dose booster immunization can be carried out among high-risk populations, elderly people over 60 years old, people with severe underlying diseases, and immunocompromised individuals.

The Lizhu Biotech Recombinant COVID-19 Fusion Protein (CHO Cell) Vaccine is the first COVID-19 vaccine in the country with data on protection against Omicron. Clinical trial data shows that after sequential boosting with the Lizhu Biotech Recombinant COVID-19 Fusion Protein (CHO Cell) Vaccine, the absolute protective efficacy against mild and above symptoms of Omicron infection (compared to the unvaccinated population) is 61.35%, with a protective efficacy of up to 71.83% for people with underlying diseases, and 61.19% for those over 60 years old or with underlying diseases, demonstrating a protective advantage for key populations such as those with underlying diseases, the elderly, and high-risk groups. At the same time, the Lizhu Biotech Recombinant COVID-19 Fusion Protein (CHO Cell) Vaccine also has good safety and tolerability for sequential boosting, being safer than mRNA or adenovirus vaccines, and is currently one of the preferred vaccines for sequential booster immunization.

Currently, the Lizhu Biotech Recombinant COVID-19 Fusion Protein (CHO Cell) Vaccine has been implemented for sequential booster vaccination in many places across the country, including Guangdong Province, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Anhui Province, Hubei Province, Zhejiang Province, Henan Province, and Yunnan Province, contributing to the fight against the pandemic.
