On the afternoon of April 29, the highly anticipated 2013 Provincial Science and Technology Awards Conference was grandly held at the Zhudao Hotel in Guangzhou. Hu Chunhua, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee, Governor Zhu Xiaodan, and other main leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government attended the meeting and presented awards to the winners.
The innovative drug project of Aiprazole by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group won the first prize for provincial scientific and technological progress. The project leader, Professor-level Senior Engineer Hou Xuemei, along with all members of the project team, received the award certificate from Ma Xingrui, Deputy Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, bringing the crystallization of their hard work and passion for further in-depth research and development of the project.
This is the second time Livzon Pharmaceutical Group has won an award since its Shenqi Fuzheng injection won the first prize for provincial scientific and technological progress in 2010. Currently, most government science and technology awards are won by research institutes or units clustered in industry-university-research collaborations. Peptic ulcer is a common disease worldwide, and domestic pharmaceutical companies mainly produce low-level generic proton pump inhibitors. The innovative drug project of Aiprazole by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group selected the most active molecular entity from over 10,000 compounds, synthesized it using patented technology, monitored production online, and established strict central control indicators and national quality standards; using targeted drug release technology, it solved the problem of drug stability, making it the first in the country to complete pharmacological, pharmacokinetic, and special toxicity studies comprehensively; independently designed and implemented clinical trials from phases I to IV and conducted genotype analysis on all 500 cases in phase III, successfully passing the national bureau's on-site inspection with zero defects and being launched.
To ensure patient medication safety, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group, in collaboration with the United States and South Korea, signed the "Aiprazole Global Drug Vigilance Alliance Agreement," making it the first in the country; conducted safety re-evaluation on 4,000 patients after market launch, and through real-time gastric pH monitoring technology and in vivo metabolism studies, found that Aiprazole acts quickly, has a long duration, is four times more effective than similar drugs, and has no individual differences, becoming a first-line medication for treating acidic diseases. This product has 20 invention patents authorized in the United States, Europe, and 9 other countries, receiving high praise from the European Patent Office, playing a leading role for domestic pharmaceutical companies to embark on the path of research and development innovation.
The award for the Aiprazole project will further inspire all members of the project team and the group's research team to continuously strive for progress and reach new heights; it will further establish Livzon Pharmaceutical Group's position in the industry as a research-driven and technology demonstration enterprise; especially, it will have a huge driving effect on the sales and promotion of Yilian. It is eagerly anticipated that this will lead to explosive growth similar to that experienced after the Shenqi Fuzheng injection won the first prize for provincial scientific and technological progress.
